His name is John Updike.
Updikes life was one of privilege and opportunity.
He is an artist and a writer.
He was born in 1882 in Chicago, Illinois.
He graduated from the University of Chicago in 1911, and from the Art Institute of Chicago, the same year.
He taught at the American Museum of Natural History for two years and then returned to the Midwest.
He went to work for the Chicago Daily Tribune, then moved to New York City to work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
In 1924, he received the prestigious National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grant to produce The Color Purple.
Updyks first novel was published in 1924 and has sold over 30 million copies.
He later went on to write the short story collection The Man Who Wasn’t There.
After his work on the screenplay for The Color Blue, Updiers first novel, which won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1966, was adapted for the screen in 1967.
It was an immediate hit.
The film follows Updys story of growing up, his work as an artist, and his first experience as an author.
The story was originally written as a screenplay by Richard Linklater, but was then adapted into a film, The Color of Money, starring George Clooney.
A second film, Updykes Blacklisted, was released in 1975.
In 1988, Updtiers film debut, The Blacklisted Brothers, was also released.
This was the last time that Updizies novel was adapted into film.
After that, he spent the next 40 years writing, working on his first novel and then writing The Color-Coded World.
It has been adapted into three sequels, The Book of Black and White, and Black-Eyed Women.
In 1994, he was given a lifetime achievement award from the Society of Fellows of the American Academy of Arts and Letters for his work in the arts.
In 1997, Updugs Blacklisted Trilogy was released.
In 2006, he won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.
In 2009, he published the book Black-Handedness: A Story of a Black Man and the New Black Race, which was a New York Times bestseller.
It won the Hugo, Nebula, and Peabody awards.
In 2011, Updinis first novel The Blackened Heart was adapted and released into the world as The Blackening of a Heart, a novel that won the John Grisham Award for Best Novel.
In 2014, Updaters Blacklisted trilogy was released into a movie that starred Emma Watson as a black woman living in the 1970s.
It went on for seven years before the film adaptation was released, with the movie eventually winning the Academy Award for best picture.
In 2017, he completed the second book in his Blackened trilogy, The Blue Ribbon.
It is currently being adapted into an HBO series.
In 2018, he wrote the script for the film Black-Footed.
It starred Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Garner, Michael Shannon, and Oscar Isaac.
It also won the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor.
In 2019, he co-wrote the screenplay of The Color, which also won two Oscars.
In 2020, he made his feature film debut as a film director, directing the biopic Black-Eye: The Legacy of the Black American, which has earned rave reviews from critics.
In 2021, he starred in the TV series The Blue Sky.
It premiered on NBC in the US and aired in 20 countries worldwide.

In 2024, he announced his intention to write a novel and co produced a television series about his life and career called Black Eyes.

It had an immediate success in the United Kingdom, where it was adapted by HBO into the TV show Black-legends, starring Eddie Redmayne, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Jessica Lange.
