A new trailer for Edward Snowden’s new film The Oath has been released to the world on Sunday.
The film will be released in cinemas on February 10, 2018, and the first footage has been revealed.
The first teaser clip shows the protagonist of the film walking out of a room full of computers, a group of people discussing the importance of privacy, and a large camera looking down on a park.
In the video, the camera pans across the screen and shows Snowden standing alone in a dark room with a group discussing the privacy implications of surveillance.
Snowden walks towards the camera and says: ‘You’re not going to believe this, but I’m going to tell you what we’re doing.’
There’s a lot of secrecy around this.’
Snowden then tells the audience: ‘We’re going to have to go outside the rules.’
He then says:’We’re not even going to pretend to be doing this.
We’re not doing it to protect you from terrorists, we’re not taking any steps to prevent our own government from spying on us.’
We are doing it because we believe in your rights and freedoms.’
And when we can, we will.
And when we see it done in a way that is ethical and in line with our principles, we’ll be proud to stand up for our rights.’
Snowder is playing Snowden, the NSA whistleblower who revealed the NSA’s mass surveillance programs, and has been in hiding since revealing the program to the media in 2013.
