The next James Bond film is not the next James Fury movie, but rather the 2020 film that will mark the 25th anniversary of the franchise, sources close to the project have confirmed.
Bond is coming back in 2020, as part of a film series called James Bond: Fury of the Gods.
The films will be made by 20th Century Fox, and will be produced by Michael Bay.
There is no news on the fate of James Bond Beyond the Thunderdome, which is the 2020 Bond film that the studio is set to release.
“There’s a big change in tone and a big shift in tone,” a source told The Hollywood Reporter.
This year marks the 25 years since James Bond broke out of retirement to take on the world in The World Is Not Enough, the last installment in the franchise.
It is unclear whether or not the films will follow the storyline of The World is Not Enough and continue to the events of Thunderdrome, which was cancelled by Fox after four films.
James Bond’s next film is currently in post-production and will see the release of The Spy Who Loved Me in 2020.
