Disney’s animated “The Lone Warrior” has taken a big step towards the sequel to the film that made it into the animated Oscar race.
The studio is aiming for an April 4, 2018, release date for “The Jungle Book 2,” and the latest teaser trailer shows the hero and heroine teaming up again.
The film’s creators, James Wan and John Lasseter, have been in talks with Walt Disney Studios about a second film in the franchise, the Hollywood Reporter has learned.
“The jungle book” was released in 1990 and starred the voice of Tom Hanks as the young protagonist, Sam, as well as Bill Murray and Judy Greer.
The sequel was released earlier this year and stars Chris Pratt, Ben Affleck, Amy Poehler and Vin Diesel.
The first “The Ranger” was a 1995 film that focused on Sam, the hero of the first film, as a young ranger on a mission to rescue a princess from a giant snake.
“Guardians” is the latest animated feature to be remade.
The two films are expected to open in the spring and summer of 2019.
